Full Contact is a term used to describe a sport derived from Karate which, unlike the latter battles and variations Point Karate and Semi-contact, full contact is allowed ("full contact" in English) from the waist up. The discipline was invented by Joe Lewis. In the seventies, had spread in various martial arts meetings where the shots had to be controlled and the action often had to be stopped after the shots themselves. To make the most spectacular fights were first invented two new disciplines: "Point Karate in the U.S. and Semi.Contact in Europe. In these sports players wore caps (invented by Master Rhee Korean Jhoon) that allow the contact to the end of the shot, even if it is necessary to stop the action immediately.
The sample of traditional karate and Point Karate Joe Lewis decided to create a sport where, as in boxing, there was full contact, thus giving rise to the "Full-Contact Karate" or "Professional Karate". The new rules had a major success both in the United States and Europe. As the sports associations of traditional karate believed incorrectly associate the word "karate" to "full-contact", even today the sport is simply called Full-Contact.
addition to the Semi-Contact is the "Light-Contact" which is not allowed to put a full sign the shots and then even the KO. As in the Full-Contact, however, the action is not interrupted.
